GreenPath is proud to support the Story Trails Initiative for Vancouver Island Youth based in the Cowichan Valley. GreenPath, in partnership with Cascadia Trailbuilder Supply is happy to contribute trail building tools to the Story Trails Initiative.
The Story Trails Initiative is centered around building eco-cultural multi-use trails with First Nations Youth, on their traditional territory. The primary goal is to help create good feelings, pride, empowerment, and team work skills and contribute to the youths’ understanding and connection to their land.
Throughout the process many cultural, life-skills, and personal development lessons Vancouver Island youth are taught through an experiential education and ‘outdoor classroom’ style of delivery. The students take part in creating a recreation resource that becomes their own legacy and a source of pride within their community; in the hope that they feel empowered more connected to their traditional territory.
The Story Trails Initiative would like to thank GreenPath Energy and Cascadia Trail Building Supply for recognizing and supporting the vision of educating First Nation youth while out working on trails on their traditional territory.
